Stefano Pisani, born in Vallo della Lucania on November 22, 1975 , is the mayor of Pollica. He grew up on bread and the Mediterranean Diet: his mother taught him to make cavatelli when he was a child on Sundays. Combining the actuality of everyday life with traditions, he intends to redirect the influence of Ancel Keys and the Mediterranean Diet, moving from the concept of a diet to a model of territorial development. To the mayor of the emblematic community of the Mediterranean Diet, the latter is based on the continuous search for a balance between human beings and the environment; through it “we are able to live well and even save our planet”. It is a lifestyle, which counts as a heritage: both cultural, since it is recognized by UNESCO – recognition strongly desired and implemented by the mayor-fisherman Angelo Vassallo, to whose memory a study center is now dedicated -, and of economic and social wealth, since it also guarantees social equity through access to healthy, fair food for all.
