Giuseppe Barbiero, known as Peppino, was born in Jelsi (Campobasso) in 1940. “With the war”, he says. He has always been a farmer, indeed a producer of wheat. A grain of which he speaks with pride but also with resignation due to the impossibility of being able to obtain the right compensation for the work done.

Giuseppe tells of the harvest, the one that was done in the past, completely by hand and which lasted “from dawn to dusk”. Today, however – says Peppino – everything happens faster thanks to machines. Before, however, “we sang”, we had more fun, even though we struggled much more.

Eat wholesome food, Giuseppe. And he drinks wine, because that is his “resource” to keep himself in business.
