Diodoro Ricci is one of the wheat producers of San Marco dei Cavoti (Benevento) engaged in the ritual Parade of the lily which takes place every year in July as a sign of thanks for the harvest and an auspicious act for the following year.

Diodoro says he is eating more wholesome foods today than when he was young, as only in adulthood he began to cultivate the land, thus having access to the goods produced in it. Diodorus has two meals a day: he never has breakfast, he prefers carbohydrates for lunch and then a second for dinner (meat, fish or vegetables). He drinks wine, both white and red. The real precious asset, however, is the oil that he grows himself, an oil that is “a cross and a delight”. Delight for the quality of the product, cross for the impossibility of obtaining a salary from the market that is equal to the work incurred to produce it.
