Martin Parr is a member of the Magnum photo agency. Since the 1990s he has traveled around the world observing and photographing human behavior and people’s eating habits. His memory foods, those prepared by his grandmother and mother, are Christmas pudding, the typical English roast and cabbage with sausages, but as a “self-confessed foodie” he also greatly appreciates Mediterranean and Neapolitan food: olive oil, pizza, mozzarella and above all the typically Italian way of celebrating vegetables. Food – he says – is one of the most beautiful gifts that Italy gave to the world! And note that this particular attention to quality has spread in recent years also in Great Britain, the country where he was born and where he lives. In September 2010 he managed to get a reservation for Ferran Adrià’s El Bulli restaurant in Barcelona. In his blog he described the experience as “an unforgettable night in theater”, but Italian and Neapolitan food – as he says – remains what satisfied him most.
