For over twenty years, Antonella Garofano has been pouring wine on the toothed sponges with which the “knockers” beat their breasts during the Seven-years Rituals of penance of Guardia Sanframondi. The role of the young woman is configured as a merciful work to alleviate the suffering of penitents thanks to the white wine and its anesthetizing and disinfectant properties. The religious ceremony is lived with deep devotion by the inhabitants of the town and neighboring territories.
